Melbourne Fashion Week x il Mercato Centrale

In October, il Mercato Centrale proudly partnered with the City of Melbourne and Melbourne Fashion Week to host the return of the Dining Runway series — an immersive event that brought together fashion, food, music and culture in the heart of the city.

A Night Where Style and Flavour Walked Hand-in-Hand

As industries continue to evolve, the connection between food and fashion has become impossible to ignore. Across the world, brands, chefs, designers and hospitality venues are increasingly collaborating to create experience-led events that go beyond traditional dining or retail. Consumers are seeking atmosphere, storytelling and cultural moments — not just products — and the Dining Runway series captured exactly that shift.

Across two sold-out runway events, Mercato Centrale transformed into a vibrant celebration of creativity, welcoming more than 450 guests to experience an evening where hospitality and high fashion met under one roof.

Set amongst the energy and atmosphere of Mercato Centrale, guests enjoyed seasonal Italian tasting plates, live performances, and runway presentations featuring an inspiring mix of established and emerging Australian designers. The collaboration highlighted Mercato’s unique ability to become more than a dining destination — evolving into a cultural meeting place where food, fashion and community naturally intersect.

The event showcased designers including Atoir, Clair Helen, Clea, Gary Bigeni, Godwin Charli, Lovaan, Ngali, Perple and Saint Stella M, with live music performances adding another layer of energy throughout the evening.

The partnership delivered exceptional engagement and reach, including:

  • 456 attendees across both runways
  • 71 influencer and creator social clips
  • 8.7 million total social media reach

The atmosphere across both nights reflected the shared vision between il Mercato Centrale and Melbourne Fashion Week — celebrating creativity, connection, and Melbourne’s evolving cultural landscape through food, fashion and experience-led events.

As Mercato continues to grow as a destination for events, culture and hospitality, the success of Melbourne Fashion Week marks an exciting chapter in showcasing what’s possible within the space. The event demonstrated how hospitality venues can become platforms for creative industries to collide — creating experiences that feel immersive, social and distinctly modern.

We’re proud to have been part of an event that brought people together through style, taste and storytelling — and we look forward to creating even more unforgettable moments in the future.
